Chrome Issues with RH10

Explorer ,
Nov 13, 2013 Nov 13, 2013

So far I have seen the following RH10 WebHelp output issues with the current version of Chrome:

  1. Endless loading/flickering and no content:
  2. Image Hot Spots show orange border after clicking
    • No solution so far
  3. Help topic pane and contents pane does not resize or show/hide scrollbar when main Chrome window is resized.
    • No solution so far (workaround for user is to reload the site in their browser after resizing)

Have you tried the editing the JavaScript as was suggested in the fix?

Hi, no I haven’t tried editing the JavaScript because the fix is for RH10….and earlier this year I applied a patch to fix RH9 and IE10 compatibility issues….so I’m not about to mess that one up. J

Not viewing the docs on Chrome is not too much of an issue because I just recommend against using Chrome. A while ago I saw a fix for viewing the docs on Chrome when they are stored locally, but I wasn’t about to ask my customers to modify things on their end when there are other popular browsers readily available.

You could take a copy of your output files; edit the .js file mentioned in the fix & test that safely

I was hoping someone else could verify 2 and 3.

I thought I saw a solution for 2 and 3 by starting a brand new project from scratch. However I was testing the result in a VirtualBox Windows 7 32-bit environment. In that environment problems 2 and 3 do not exist. Not sure why Chrome works better in VirtualBox Windows 7 32-bit. Enabling 3D Acceleration in VirtualBox made Chrome have a fit until I turned off GPU composting in Chrome and then everything worked again.

Turning off hardware acceleration and GPU composting in Chrome under Windows 7 64-bit did not improve anything.
