Conditional build tags not working at content level

Please save me from a nervous breakdown - I have spent many hours trying to produce a manual without success. I am using Robohelp X5 with Word 2003 and I am experiencing problems when producing printed documentation. The documents were originally imported from Doc2help and appeared to have converted okay. However when I produce printed documentation only the conditional build tags at Topic level work correctly. I spent may hours yesterday creating a new document in Robohelp and I copied and pasted topics from the affected document into the new document. This worked fine and I was able to produce the document with conditional tags working at topic and content level. However the problem returned after I changed some of the text and content conditional buid tags in the new document.

Are you using RH HTML with Word 2003 or RoboHelp for Word?

That wasn't the answer I wanted! In HTML you could have looked at the underlying code to see if it had got screwed up. Hopefully a RoboHelp for Word person will wander along?

Meantime create a new document and see if things work OK there. If they do, then it points to Doc2Help having done something to the documents. You could try the old trick in a copy of your project. Delete the documents and then reopen RH so that it is forced to create new documents from the RTF files. That sometimes fixes problems.

I deleted the documents and reopened RH, but I am still getting the same problem.

Did you get the problem in a new document where you create new text rather than pasting content?

I wonder if it would help to first copy the content into a *.txt file and save it to strip it of any undesirable elements. Then paste it from the text file into RoboHelp.

Might require more tweaking in RoboHelp but it could eliminate whatever might be lurking in the original.

Copying the content into a*.txt file and pasting inot RH appears to have resolved the problem for the troublesome topics
