context.txt corrupting

I use RoboHelp very infrequently, but I need to update an existing helpset.

This help was created in a previous version of RH (one that created an .mpj instead of an .xpj). When I opened it in RH7 it converted the necessary files and opened, creating a .xpj. Everything went along ok (I was able to update existing topics) until I tried to edit the context.txt file. It seemed to be okay in that I could add new Topic IDs and Topic Text, but when I tried to hit Close, I got this message

“This file may be an invalid Text-Only Topic file. Any data contained in this file may be lost. Would you like to continue?” Then I’m basically stuck. It won’t let me back out or go forward.

Welcome to our community, Ellen

Would it be preferable to edit using Windows Notepad? If so, there may be a way to coax Notepad to be your editor from RoboHelp HTML.

Cheers... Rick

Does RH care if there is a Map #? If I do the content in Notepad, how does the Map # get assigned?

Hi Ellen

RoboHelp won't care about a map number but likely your application will.

I was only suggesting the Notepad option as a way to edit, since you seemed to be stuck and RoboHelp was balking with the existing file.

Cheers... Rick
