All bookmarks seem to need to replace spaces with underscores.
If I make a cross-reference to a bookmark, can the display text replace the underscores with spaces?
So for example, let's say I have Topic1.htm with bookmark "Desired_Bookmark."
Now I want to create a cross-reference to "Desired_Bookmark" in Topic2.htm.
When I do so, the text of Topic2.html displays "Desired_Bookmark" but what I would like it to show is "Desired Bookmark." Is there a way to do this?

The bookmark has to have the underscore but I see no reason why the text of the link has to be the same. It should be possible for the Bookmark_1 text at the end to be Bookmark 1. However, if you remove the underscore there, on returning to Author mode or simply closing from Source View, the underscore gets removed.
I suggest you report it as a bug. Please follow this link to report bugs or request new features. https://tracker.adobe.com. Post the link to your bug report / feature request in this thread and others can vote for it. The more people who do so, the higher it gets prioritised.

Just a point of clarification...did you add this to the html directly? or was that automatically created?
When I create a new cross-reference I don't get a "title" attribute/option. So I don't know if the bug/feature request is that I'm not getting "title" generated or if the bookmark text displays the underscores.

All done through the UI to create the link. Then I went to code view to see if I could hack it there. I have asked an Adobe contact to confirm it is a bug.
