Entering New Topic Followed by Delay

New Here ,
Jan 31, 2008 Jan 31, 2008
When I enter a new topic in RH6 (Word 2003), either by Quick Topic or by New Topic methods, the topic title appears; however, the hourglass thinks for 5-10 seconds before allowing me to continue adding additional topics. This does not occur if the same RH file is opened on a different computer. I recently got a much faster computer, so it isn't related to the hardware. It also occurs in any file size. Any suggestions about which settings to check?

This is only if nobody comes up with a better idea as it's a bit painful.

You could just try a simple uninstall and reinstall but I don't think that is it. What I wonder is whether there is a problem with your network profile.

If that is it, then you would need to get IT to keep your old one in case this doesn't fix it. A new profile means you lose all your settings for all your programs, hence me saying it is painful. If this does not fix it, then they might as well give you your old profile back.

In the case of RH, I would deactivate and uninstall it using your old profile, get the new one and then reinstall.

It may or may not fix anything but it's the only suggestion I can make. I am asuming the project is not on the network. If it is, that is more likely the cause and it should not be there.

Thanks for the response. You're right, it's not on the network. I'll check with IT about the profile option. I'm not familiar with that.

Make sure they don't trash the old profile too soon.
