Framemaker 8 and Framemaker 9 are they not compatiable?

I have a work manual, that I inherited.

It was written in Framemaker 8 out of house.  It has now been brought inhouse, but the Framemaker version is 9.

It doesn't like the hyper links, and drops them, and doesn't recognise the fonts!

Then when I came to produce the manual book, it wouldn't recognise the linked framemaker documents or TOC!

What do I do?  I cannot believe that such a floored upgrade could have been produced.

Did you open and save the FM8 docs in FM9 first? Did you get warnings or error mesages in FM9 and did you address those issues? Do you have the required fonts installed?
