Getting really strange "failed to publish" message...

Hi all,

I'm getting an error shown below when attempting to publish to our RH server. Admittedly, we're using RH 7 and publishing to an X5 server, but we've been able to more or less make it work up until now (more or less).

Warning: Failed to publish to "Core". reason: Cannot load xml data: MZ7M]& <Fw
,7WUSREPE
u0wmemcpy.

Ideas on how to fix this or what it means?

Your RH7 project doesn't use any of the unicode features does it?

Such as what? I don't think it does. It's a straight English help system.

Hi -

I am getting a similar error when publishing. The error reads:

quote:

Warning: Failed to publish to "test robohelp server". reason: Cannot load xml data: MZjhieD$=SVt9v.IE3%qHtNHtBHt4Ht&HtuMRq E0.DLLr.

This error showed up after I turned on the write permissions for the user IUSR_[machineName] both via NTFS (Security TAB) and IIS Control Panel. Prior to that, I was getting error 500 when publishing from RoboHelp. Has anyone found a solution for this? Its quite frustrating.

thanks

Actually if you are generating RH7 output Adobe says publishing to a RH Server version before RH Server 7 is not supported. The new HTML code in RH 7 is not backwards compatible.

I should have mentioned that I was using Robohelp Server 7 when I encountered the issue, not RoboHelp Server X5 as mentioned by the originator of the thread.

Hi Edward.

I have to say that I am not server administration person. That said, most of these sorts of issues are normally caused by the permissions not being set, being set incorrectly, or in the incorrect sequence. Check out the links below and come back if things still don't work.

Link 1 - refers to the permissions required. It talks about RH Server 6 but I believe the information still applies to RH Server 7.

Link 2 - refers to the procedure for setting permissions.
