I note that the PDF version of the RoboHelp 10 help (created Nov 2012) was produced in FrameMaker 8. I was genuinely wondering why, internally, Adobe use a version of Frame that's 3 versions behind the one they're currently selling.

Whilst only Adobe can answer that question if your assumption is correct, how do you know it was created in FM8?

Press Ctrl+D in Adobe Reader to see the PDF's metadata. The first tab tells you it was created from FrameMaker 8.
