Help we're dead in the water

New Here ,

Good Morning,

The details:
RoboHelp 7 HTML
WebHelp Pro
I publish by generating and on then hit next to the next screen where the server info is and then select Finish. Then it generates fine, but when I select publish afterwards it says "Connection failed, etc. Native Error - cannot accept uploading file"

It seems to be a permissions problem but my sys adm said he gave me global permissions and it still didn't work. Is there any documentation on what the permissions need to be on the server?

Thank you!

Jill

Hi Zijillian - it sounds as if you're publishing to a server, correct?
If you're using Robooffice html make sure your server entry is of the format http://servername. Also, ask your admin to make sure your domain account was added to the local publishing group on the server. Finally, what we've noticed with win2003 - you may need to enable windows authentication for directory security within IIS administration. We didn't have to configure extra security on a win2000 installation. Hopefully others with more product experience can assist as well.

Zjillian - are you publishing to RoboServer 7? If so, has your IT dept given you admin rights to the RH group folders (My IT guy was going soofast, but I know there are 3 folders and 1 was called publishing). You need admin rights to those 3 groups/folders, not just admin rights to the box. That's not enough.

The other thing is that I notice that publishing via HTTP has never worked for me me. I use the file server option to publish and have never had an issue with that.

Hope this helps or at least gives you a direction into figuring it out.

Cindy

Hi Cindy,

Thanks for your response! I'm not sure what you mean by publish via the file server option - where do you see that (do you mean put in the server name vs. the http://13.3.etc.etc?

Jill, what I mean is when you right click on say FlashHelp, Generate, click Next twice and the FlashHelp publish dialogue box displays.

Click New. In the new dialogue box is a section called Connection Protocols. instead of using FTP or HTTP I use the File server option (kinda like Windows Explorer) and enter the network path to the specified place on the server.

Let me knkow if this works for you. Or if you still have questions. About to meet with IT so I will copy your settings from earlier post and see if they are the similar to what I have here and let you know.

Ok, IT via net meeting moved way too fast, but what I got out of it was something to the effect that you have to have access to the following groups RoboAdmin, RoboPublisher, RoboReports, and RoboTime. I was given full access to these groups. And I can publish the help using the File Server option described in the last post.

I have a different issue in that I can publish to the server, but that the RH Config on the server can't find the projects. Unforntuately, this has to wait until Tuesday as it will be me, my project manager, IT and a conference call with RH support. We know a virtual server has to be setup, but it's still a config problem because with the url it prompts the end user to log in. So I have no problem publishing, now my issue is getting the end user to see the help and using the database to run reports.

Not sure if any of this helped you, but I hope so.

Cindy
