Hello. I have an issue. When I import a Word document into RoboHelp using a certain template, the document exported to Word does not maintain the same formatting. Is there a way to a.) get RoboHelp to maintain all formatting of the original Word document or b. import styles from template into RoboHelp generated Word document automatically somehow? Or any other solution??? Thanks!

Hi, I think you will find that no matter what styles and fomatting you have in an original document, once you import it into a Robohelp for word project that the styles in the imported document are overwritten by the styles that exist in the 'Robohelp.dot' This is the one template that is used for all Robohelp for word projects. Thus the style for every document you import to a project applies the whole project look to it. I have not found a way to apply different document styles to to multiple documents in the Same project, The only way I could see you being able to achieve that would be to create multiple styles within a single Robohelp.dot? ?... this may not be practicable. Myself I have 2 seperate Robohelp for word projects that use diffeent formating. In each case i have created a specific template for each. Eg:- Project 1.dot and Project 2.dot. depending on the project I wish to work on I replace the Robohelp.dot on each occasion. Work on the project and impoft / work on documents within the project until I need to work on the other one. When that is needed I copy the template of the next project into the default Robohelp.dot template directory., delete the existing Robohelp.dot and the rename the newly copied template file as Robohelp.dot. I'm relatively lucky in that the size of each template file I uses is dferent hence by size alone I can readily see what Robohelp template is in place at any given time. To make this work you may find that you have only one singular Robohelp.dot installed and and available on your Pc. by default you may find it is installed into several directories, In my case I have ensure I have only one Robohelp dot installed on the pc within the user/roaming. ?...../templates directory whereever your version of word is obtaining it,s templates from. I trust this helps? Bryan Holman
