Software Versions: RoboHelp 8.0.2 / RoboSource Control 3.1
Hello!
I've been using RoboHelp for several years now, but I'm just now trying to set up version control. My company's MIS department set up the server components, and the connection seems to be working fine.
I've added projects to version control from within the RoboHelp application.
When I open the project, I'm prompted to login to the source control server and to get the latest versions of all the files, so this seems to be working correctly. (I always answer "Yes").
Whenever I begin to modify a topic, I'm prompted to check it out. While the topic is checked out, I am able to see the red checkmark on the topic icon, and I'm able to see in the RoboSource Control Explorer window that the file is checked out by me, so the check out process seems to be working correctly.
Whenever I finish the topic updates, I check it back in, and I'm able to see the item is checked in on the RSC Explorer window.
And, whenever I close the project, I'm prompted to check in any checked out files. (To which I reply "Yes") So far so good . . .
I see the lastest version (with changes) in the RSC Explorer window, but I'm not able to see where it tracked the revision history. I've tried looking at this several ways with no luck.
If I select the Revision History icon from within RoboHelp, I'm prompted to login to the source control server, and I'm taken to the RSC Explorer window and a separate History menu. I select the "Execute View" button. But, all it shows is where the item was initially created, not any of the updates.
The same result happens when I select the item in the RSC Explorer window, right-click and select "History".
Also, there is nothing in the "Recent Changes" tab in the RSC Explorer window.
Any ideas why my revisions aren't being tracked by RSC?
Thanks a bunch!
Andreah

I wanted to update this post, as I've figured out the answer to my own question.
The issue seems to be that RoboSource Control isn't yet compatible with Windows 7 (I use the 64-bit version).
The workaround was to install Windows XP Mode - Windows Virtual PC and to install the programs there.
I received an error message that I wasn't able to download software using a virtual machine, but was able to work around this as well by downloading the intstall packages to a location on my computer, and assigning a drive letter mapping to the location.
If there are any other Windows 7 users out there having trouble with RoboSource Control, I hope you find this information helpful.
Thanks!
Andreah
