How can I remove toc/index/search panes that remain when I link to another project?

When I link from my main html file to project A and then click a link to go back to the main html file the toc/index/search pane remains on the screen. How can I remove it?

I am working with RH8 and Windows 7. I generate Webhelp.

I have one main html file that has links to projects A and B. Each project is in a separate folder. The projects are not merged.

I can link to the generated or published files just fine. However, when I start moving around in the files/projects, the toc/index/search panes remain visible.

For example, if I click the link on the main html file to go to project A it displays correctly. If I click a link to go back to the main html file the toc/index/search pane stays visible for project A. If Iclick the link to go to project B I get another toc/index/search pane and have 2 panes visible.

How can I make the panes disappear and not remain on the screen when I move from project to project?

Thanks for the help.

Pat

I'm not sure that you can. It's like any link on any website, if the link opens another tab or instance of the browser, it is up to the user to close it.

Merged help would just open the other topic and keep the user in the same tab. When they click links to different projects, the first topic would close and the next one would open.
