How Do I Create a Numbered List Style That Always Restarts at 1

New Here ,
Feb 16, 2012 Feb 16, 2012

I am having trouble with numbered lists. I created a style for numbered lists. When I first apply this style, it numbers my procedure just fine. After this first procedure, I have several intervening paragraphs and  headings. However, when I go to my next list in the same topic and apply the numbered list style I created, the numbering continues instead of starting at 1. So instead of two procedures, each going from 1-5, I have two procedures that go 1-5 then 6-10.

What am I doing wrong? How do I edit the style to make it behave correctly every time I apply it?

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the community.

What version and flavour of RoboHelp are you using? What kind of list style have you created? (See also http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/lists/lists.htm) What is going wrong will probably depend on the type of list you are creating.

If you don't know what type of list you are creating, can you outline the steps you take to create a list? Please provide some screenshots so we can see what you are doing.

Greet,

Willam

Hi William,

I'm using RoboHelp 9. Thanks for responding to my question and sending me the link. I found the information quite helpful. I was able to figure out how to make my lists number correctly.

Regards,

Michele
