Hello,
I'm using robohelp#7 and was wondering if there's a way to compare 2 output chm files in such a way that only shows the delta, i.e the changes made from previous version? alternatively, is there a way to see track changes in the xpj project?
Thx for all who can assist here,
Talia

Unfortunately the answers to both your questions are not as straightforward as you may wish.
A CHM file is a compiled file so it would be very difficult to compare its contents with decompiling it first. You can decompile a CHM from inside RoboHelp by using the HTML Workshop tool. If you do this to both CHM you can then compare each file's contents. I use the ExamDiffs Application for what it is worth.
As for track changes, this can't be done directly from the topic editor in RoboHelp. However if you use the in build RoboSource Control application (or indeed most other source control applications) you can not only record what changes have been made but some also allow you to compare versions.

Hi Colum
Are we a bit confused? RoboHelp doesn't install the HTML Help Workshop. One must visit Microsoft's site to specifically download that.
I'm wondering if you are confusing this with the HTML Help Studio that is installed in the RoboHelp Toolbox. (View > Pods > Toolbox).
I'd also like to point out that the recently released RoboHelp 9 has a nifty Track Changes feature that is built into the product. So it may be worth the time to download the trial and kick the old tires! (Or is that tyres?) ![]()
