How to Force the use of a Master Page in RH8?

Guest

I'd like to configure my project to always use a given master page in all cases and without manual intervention.

What this means is that the association of topic with "the" Master Page will exist before, during, and after a Force Update. Once set, the master page will never have to be set again.

How can this goal be accomplished in RH8?

Bump.

Put another way, how to specify a CSS that will remain associated with all topics after a 'Force-Update' operation.

Looks like the answer is a bit non-intuitive due to a new partially-implemented feature and remaining work (a bug) that conceals it.

The new feature that facilitates this behavior is at the bottom of the HTML Help - Microsoft HTML Help dialog in the Additional Options section.

In this section choose CSS, and specify a style sheet. That style sheet will indeed be applied to every topic. Great!

However...

  • Those annoying chapter-specific CSS files will continue to be generated.
  • AND they will continue to appear as the associated Style-Sheet in the Topic List (which is extremely annoying).

Note to Adobe Eng: (if you happen to read this post) It would be really great if RH stopped generating chapter-specific CSS files when the user selects the CSS option in the Additional Options section of the HTML Help - Microsoft HTML Help dialog. It would also be better if that option were called something like "Global CSS" or "Project CSS".

Ideally there would be an option to associate the CSS with the project at some higher level so as to ensure its use in all output formats.
