I lose Admin Control of User Rights

Guest

In Robohelp Version Control, make sure that I am signed on as Administrator.
I click Admin -- User Library
Sometimes it appears to be working for a couple minutes. I was able to add several users and passwords.
Then, the check box part of the screen goes blank, all checkmarks are removed from the screen, and I start getting this message.
"Error, you have insufficient rights to perform this operation."
Thus, I have been able to add users, but can not customize their "user rights".
Thanks, Dennis

Hi phiguru -

I run into this sometimes, too. Very frustrating! If the problem is persistent, my solution has been to reboot the server. It's a crude solution, but it has worked for me. It's possible that restarting the RoboSource Control services would have the same effect, but I'm not sure.

Occasionally, if I am running RSC Explorer from my pc and run into this problem, I can log directly into the RSC server and have the user library permissions work correctly. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't.

When RSC starts acting like this, I've discovered that it's usually a bad idea to keep trying to change the settings, because the settings I make (or think I am making) sometimes come out wrong.

I have no idea what causes this, but it does seem more likely to occur if the server hasn't been rebooted in a while.

HTH,
G.

Hi, Gravenstein.
I've admired and appreciate your helpfulness in answering questions regarding RoboSourceControl here and elsewhere on the forums. Sounds like you might have some good tips and tricks on the subject. I am writing some articles on RSC and wondered if you would contact me offline at the email found on my View Profile link to the left of this message.
Thanx!
