Images not showing up in Winhelp4 but do in Webhelp

I have a problem where my images don't show up in Winhelp4 format but do show up correctly in webhelp format.

I simply change the Primary Output in the project between the two formats and compile the help. From the same source one works (Webhelp) and one has broken images.

Are there any special tricks I need to know about to make this work?

thanks,

Dyester

No I never got an answer. However we ended up switching to webhelp format anyway, so the point is moot.

Winhelp is no supported on Vista which was the main reason for our upgrade.

Hi Dyester

Winhelp is no supported on Vista

This is technically inaccurate. WinHelp 16 bit is supported directly out of the box in Vista. WinHelp 32 bit isn't directly supported out of the box. What happens is the first time a user attempts to use a 32 bit WinHelp file, they are prompted to download the WinHelp viewer for Vista. But it still works.

Microsoft is simply making it more painful to use WinHelp in hopes that everyone will switch to .CHM or web based formats.

Cheers... Rick

dyester,

I'm using Windows XP. Any thought why images won't display after I generate WinHelp4 but they do when I generate WebHelp?

Hi Sheldon

It's been what seems eons since I've touched WinHelp or RoboHelp for Word. But I seem to recall recent versions of RoboHelp changed the playing field with images. I seem to recall that years ago, RoboHelp allowed you to specify multiple paths to image files using what I think was called a BMROOT area of the project? I believe later versions changed this and only allow you to specify a single folder for images. But I might be wrong about that.

Cheers... Rick

Captiv8r,

I moved all my bitmaps to one Image Folder in BMROOT and all the images now show. I find it strange that RoboHelp6 would allow me to create more than one Image Folder. Well now the daunting task of testing my help file...

Thanks

RHX5 allows more than one image file in BMROOT. For instance, a client's common pics in one file and project-specific pics in another. Don't know about 6 or 7, though.
