Images (?) turning text bold in PDF

Windows 7, RH9.02.271, Word 2010, Acrobat X (v 10.1.1), Snagit 10.0.1

In the output PDF, the text following some images becomes bold--not just the caption, but pages of bold text.

Has anyone seen this and is there a fix? I heard that if I change my images to jpg the problem will go away. I have hundreds, if not thousands, of images. If, indeed, I do have to change formats does anyone have a batch script to do this?

I would look at the code immediately before and after the image to see if it is stemming from something you don't see online but do see in the PDF.

Post it here if you can.

Also see if the same happens if you generate a Word document rather than a PDF.

Oddly enough, both the web help and the Word document are fine.

Hmm. Looks OK.

Try taking the P tag off the image but I'm not expecting it to make a difference.

The other thing I would try is generating the Word document as one process and then generating the PDF from there.

I don’t know either. I usually publish to Word, make any tweaks, and then make the PDF. I tried both ways today to see if it made a difference. (It didn’t.)

Changing to jpg does correct the bold—until I get to the next offending image.

I'm not clear from that whether the Word document has the same problem or if it is only the PDF after Word. If the latter, have you tried one of the free PDF writers?

So far, I’ve had no luck in solving this issue. Due to other issues and time constraints, I’ve only tried PrimoPDF. It corrected the text issue, the image fell apart.
