Importing multiple page PDF files

I am using RoboHelp HTML version 7. I am having a problem importing PDF files that are multipe pages long. I usually import using the 'import as image' option. When I try to do this with PDFs that are more then say, 10 or so pages long, it gives me an error that says 'Due to the complex formatting of the selected PDF file, you must choose the option to "Convert as absolutley positioned HTML". When I try to do that it says Failed to convert unexpected error. I'm still pretty new to RoboHelp and I'm not really sure what to do.

Try deconstructing the pdf file (Save As a .doc file in Acrobat Pro or as a .txt file in Acrobat Viewer). You'll lose most of the formatting, but you'll at least get all the content and you can reformat in RH.

Good luck,
Leon

The files I am trying to import are from another department. I do not have the rights to alter them. I don't know if this applies to formatting issues but I still think they would be very unhappy if I started messing around with their stuff. I just don't understand why I have been able to import countless other PDFs that were made off the exact same template, with no problem. The issue only seems to be happening when there are a larger number of pages.

Could you ask the people in the other department to break up the larger ones into smaller chunks?

Another thought: Are you copying the file to your local machine before importing it, or are you trying to do it over a network? That could be the issue.

Good luck,
Leon

I have tried to import locally and from a network folder and neither work. Thanks for the suggestions though. I guess I will just have to talk to the other department about breaking them down.
