Index problem

Need some help with this one --

I generated a first-pass index using the Smart Index tool and then batch generated my various outputs. I didn't like the index entries, so I cleaned it up using the Robohelp Index interface. After re-generating, my online indexes look good (all the changes came through properly); however, in the printed doc (Word file) it's still showing my "old" (original) index. Can someone give me a hint on how to correct this? Thanks.

I found the answer (by trial and error)...

If you have an index entry that contains sub-entries, the main entry cannot have any topics linked to it (they all have to be entered as sub-entries). If an index entry has topics AND sub-entries, the topics for the top entry will be listed as individual line items, each with its own page number.

I trust you did regenerate the printed document. :-)

Have you tried selecting the index in Word and selecting Update Field in the context menu?

You could also try deleting the index from the print layout and generating, then add it back in and generate again.

Finally try deleting the printed document manually rather than letting RH do it.

I see it's working now. The reason I thought it was still "broken" was because there are so many entries. For example, why (or how) does RoboHelp determine if it's going to list the page numbers for multiple entries in a comma-separated series (for example, Controller 1, 4, 12, 15, etc) or individually, like this:
controller 1
controller 3
controller 4
controller 5
controller 5
controller 6

Also, where it appears twice on the same page, why does it repeat the entry? Thanks for any insight you can provide on this.

I don't know how it is controlled but I do know you cannot change it at the RH end. You would have to play around in Word to do that.
