Inserting a WMV video file in a topic

I want users to be able to play a WMV file from one of the topics of my project (CHM file). I am using the "Insert | Multimedia/Demo.." option. After browsing and selecting the file, the preview area will show a frame with the video controls but no video at all. Then I click OK and RoboHelp will insert a "Windows Media" frame in the topic. When I open the topic after running the project, I see the same frame with the controls but no video at all. I can slide the progress bar, but all the other controls seem disabled.

Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? I really like the idea of the users playing video from the topic. I would't like to put a hyperlink to the video.

Thank you Pete. That worked quite well. I will be using that script a lot.

Hi, Carlos, and welcome,

This is a known problem, caused by the fact that the Windows Media Player control does not work properly when the video file is compiled into the CHM. There is a workaround, but it requires you to leave the video file out of the CHM. See the following article for more information and examples:
