We have within the last two weeks been upgraded to Windows 7. At that same time we upgraded to RoboHelp 8.0. Since that time we have been unable to successfully use RoboSource. We have had a multitude of problems including not being able to get the entire project on one of our author's machines to not actually checking in changes. RoboHelp acts like we have checked the topic out and we make a change, gesture to check in without any errors in RoboHelp. But, when we look at RoboSource the file was not checked in as evidenced by the time stamp. If we try to in check the file by gesturing to check in within RoboSource, it says there are no changes but it is changed. We were succesfully using RoboSource with our project prior to the upgrade to the new Windows 7 machines.
Adobe says it works with Windows 7 but we have yet to get it to work.
Thanks for any help you can provide,
Nita

In case anyone else is wondering about this in the future, Adobe support says that RoboSource does
not work with Windows 7 64 bit. I have yet to prove it works with 32 bit either. So, if you are using RoboSource, run the RoboSource client and RoboHelp in a virtual machine using something besides Windows 7.

I've seen RH8 and RSC3.1 working in a Windows 7 32-bit virtual machine (VM). I was able to access a database in RSC, check files in and out, and make changes.

mine works fine as well, though all of my topics continually end up in the broken l
inks folder... but that was happening before my upgrade to windows 7, too.

Hi, I have not upgraded to windows 7 yet and was just contemplating doing so. Maybe I will wait, however, I've had problems with
robosource control since I upgraded to RoboHelp8 (Tech Communication Suite 2). Our projects are no longer under source control. When we open the project it shows a local project only, even though the projects have been under source control for 2 years. I can get into RoboSource 3 explorer and the projects are there. I've tried checking them out directly from Source Control and setting a new local path, but nothing seems to work.
I have tried everything I can think of including adding the recent 8.02 update to RoboHelp. If anyone has a solution, could you please pass it on to me at ljohnson@vovici.com. I have spent way to much time on this and I'm at my wits end trying to figure out the problem.
Help,
Lana

When we upgraded to RH8 from RH7, I took a copy of our projects out of RSC, openend them in RH8, and then added them to a new project under RH8. Tedious, but it worked. I can send you a copy of my procedure for removing projects from RSC if you haven't done that before.

MW hi
Yes, I am still having the same problems. If you could pass along your procedure you mentioned in your response, that would be great. I'm ready to try anything at this point.
Thanks,
Lana

I'd be happy too. Send me an email at mwhisler@altera.com and I'll send you the .pdf. In the meantime, I'll try to figure out how to host it on Acrobat.com
