I've used Robohelp before, but now am faced with having to create a stylesheet. I've tried using the Help but it seems to make assumptions that I've done created .css before. For example, the kinds of things that I can find no information on:
Bottom line: I'm looking for all inclusive documentation that will give me concepts and procedures for creating a style sheet.
Thanks for your assistance.

This is the Design Editor where you edit topics. Screenshot is RH8 but it's the same for this purpose.

Editing styles is done via the Format menu. It is fairly straightforward done that way. How are you trying to access it?

Thanks for the graphic explaining the Design Editor. Would have been nice if that section of the window had been marked as such.
It appears that you can access styles by double clicking the .css. When I select Format from the main tool bar, the only option I got was Apply Conditional Build Tag.
I am importing a book file that was created in DITA. I would like to be albe to map the FM styles to Robohelp styles, but don't sesem to be able to access the Robohelp Style Mappings window. Any ideas how I get to that?

I was able to finally access the Style Mappings window when I imported a book file. However, if I decide to add a new style later on, how do I access this window?

We are getting off topic now. The forum works better if questions relate to the title so that the next person along with a problem find it via search. Follow up questions on the same topic should go in the same thread but it helps if new stuff goes into new threads.
If you are importing, why would you want to access the style mapping. Importing is a one off process. Linking is different and you can go into Project Settings to change things. There is some information about this for RH8 in the About RH8 article on my site. It's a bit different to RH7 but it may help.

Hi..
I COMPLETELY understand your frustration, because i've just gone through the same ordeal.
Its impossible to figure out how to import frame files into RH and how to use style sheets from the on-line help, because as you said, you only get bits and pieces of information out of context, and many of the descriptions of settings don't explain what they are for/do. Its the same old paradox; the only way you can understand the on-line help is if you already understand the product; in which case you wouldn't need the online help.
What finally helped me to get a basic grasp of the mysteries of style sheets, etc. was the tutorial: "Adobe Technical Communication Suite Getting Started series - Part 3: FrameMaker 8 and RoboHelp7: …" @ www.adobe.com/devnet/robohelp. (it runs about an hour and a half). It explains how to enter and apply custom style sheet settings, mapping, etc. and should probably clear up your confusion.
The only thing I STILL not certain about though, is what relationship, if any, template (.htt) files have to do with anything, and whether they relate to .css files. So i'd appreciate it if another poster can shed some enlightenment on that.

Thank you so much for sharing these resources with me. I have viewed
Adobe's tutorials on a number of topics and where their documentation
falls short of the mark, the tutorials are excellent. I can't wait to dig
into them.

Like I said, I understand your pain... I spent weeks going in circles trying to find something... ANYTHING... in user forums, the help, etc etc. and had gotten nowhere. I was so desperate, I was about ready to pick up the phone and make the dreaded and no-doubt useless and frustrating call to Adobe technical support when I stumbled on that tutorial.
So I'm more than delighted if I can help another poor soul out.
Too bad Adobe can't get it together to provide a proper procedure for us less-than-expert types.

We're using the FrameMaker product in conjunction with DITA and there was
no way we could learn it on our own. We had to hire a trainer, who was
excellent, but we had to spend all of our software money for the next few
years to get the training. We're actually single sourcing so we are using
our FrameMaker source docs and adding them by reference into RoboHelp.
Again, thanks for your help and encouragement. Adobe folks, are you
listening?
