Links missing from printed version

Using RH7 on a help text originally created in RH5, my printed documentation has no links at all-- not even non-working links. The link text comes through as plain text. While the printed documentation is being generated I repeatedly get a message from Microsoft Word, saying "Word cannot save this file because it is already opened elsewhere (C:Documents and Settings\...\Normal.dot)" This message makes me think the link problem is related to templates. When I open the resulting document and look under Tools > Templates and Add-ins, it shows these templates:

- In the "Document Template" box, C:\Documents and Settings\ccbrewst\My Documents\I-GUIDES help\IGUIDES_RHT.dot

- In the "Checked items" box, rhd.dot and SnagIt Add-in.dot

It doesn't mention Normal.dot. Can anyone tell me if the link problem is related to templates, and why I get the message about Normal.dot? (I think I'm over my head!) Thanks.

I wish this forum would let me edit my previous submission. I wasn't getting links because I hadn't checked the "Retain Hyperlinks" box. Duh! I didn't know that choice existed. But I'm still getting the message about Normal.dot, so I'd still like to know about the template issue. Thanks.

Your link question and answer could be useful to someone else, a post with that edited out is not. However, you should see an Edit link in your own posts.

Look in your Word settings. There is a setting to force Word to prompt for changes to Normal. Try turning it off.
