Merged cms - Page Cannot be Displayed

New Here ,
Apr 18, 2006 Apr 18, 2006
I have created a large chm file that merges together several other chms at varying chapter levels.

I have a problem with "page cannot be displayed" errors where most topics happily display as they should but if I click on a particular set of topics (in a merged subchapter) then the rest of the topics in the top-level chapter of this section cannot be displayed. (Yes, I have the registered the fix for the network SP2 security issue.)

There are about 10 or more other top-level chapters with merged subchapters in them, which do not return this error so I am at a loss as to why it might be occuring with this particular section.

Any ideas/similar experiences?
Any help will be greatly appreciated

I'm no CHM expert and I note you have applied the fix. However, until someone else can step in, have you tried running the merge locally?

Hi alocin. Check that the offending sub-project has been added to the baggage file. I've had instances where even merged CHMs have not been added when the merge is performed. You may have to manually amend the master project's rhbag.apj file to do so. Then recompile and let us know if this works.

Thanks for the suggestions... I am running the chm(s) locally and I have tried recompiling, checked the baggage files and rhbag.apj with no luck.

I have discovered that this problem only occurs with the TOC - if you use the search to look for any of the topics that will not display, then you can display them without any errors by using the search tab.

OK. It's time to create a new master project and merge one of the offending sub-projects into it. Compile and see if it works. If it does, the problem is not with the CHMs. You could then try removing all references to the sub-projects (don't forget to check the baggage file) and then add them again. Let us know how you get on.
