I have created a master project (RoboHelp HTML), in which I have added two new merged projects via the TOC toolbar. The appear in the master TOC, but do not appear in the TOC when the master project is generated as Flash help. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Hi again hylandwriter1

Umm, what version of RoboHelp are you using? Merging FlashHelp is a feature that only recently appeared. So if you are using X5, I don't believe merging FlashHelp was possible with that version.

Cheers... Rick

Hi hylandwriter1

Adding the references to the TOC isn't all you need to do. You also need to copy the outputs from the files you referenced to their respective locations in the master output location. Have you done this?

I have generated Flash help for the "slave" projects, both to a shared directory called "Merged Flash."

I then created a "master" project, and created the merged TOC by navigating to the .xpj files of each "slave" project.

I compiled the Flash help for the "master" project to the same "Merged Flash" directory.

On the bright side . . . I'm working with RoboHelp HTML, not RoboHelp Word. Of course, now I will push the envelope with Flash - but only with the best of intentions <:)

Hi again

Merged WebHelp and FlashHelp don't work the same way as merged .CHM files do. With merged .CHM files, you simply ensure that they all find each other, usually be ensuring they are all inside the same folder. But with merged FlashHelp and WebHelp, there are specific folder locations inside the parent output where they are expected to be found.

What you posted seems to imply that you think all you have to do is ensure all the files exist in the same shared folder.

Cheers... Rick

Yes, that was my understanding per what I could find in the help. Can you point me to documentation/instructions that can guide me in how to structure my output so that I can obtain a merged Flash Help master project? Please.

Found a KB article that I was a bit confusing, but I now can generate a master project with linked webhelp subprojects. http://help.adobe.com/en_US/RoboHTML/7.0/RoboHelp_Server/Merging/Merging_WebHelp_Projects.htm

Lets hope it works for Flash, too. Thanks for your patience with newbies like me.

Well, the KB article is titled "Merged WebHelp/FlashHelp," but it doesn't work for Flash help. The article says that publishing a Master Project automatically creates a "Mergedprojects" folder, where you're supposed to publish the subprojects to. This is true for WebHelp but NOT true for FlashHelp. So, I guess I could use some help getting this to work for a merged FlashHelp master project. Where are you supposed to publish the subprojects to? Anybody?

Just a quick note: RH7 FlashHelp does merge help like webhelp. And so does the pro version.

You just have to remember to publish all the slave projects to the mergedProjects folder which is created when you publish the Master Project.
