Missing Topics in Frameless Generation (RoboHelp 2019)

In the frameless output generated for a project, two of the topics are missing in the result. Both are in the TOC, and both briefly appear in the dialogue box as the output generates (e.g. "Patching issues in Missing_Topic_1", "Patching issues in Topic_Correctly_Generating").

This is using the most recently updated version of RoboHelp 2019. Error occurred after copying & pasting the .htm file generated in output to separate, local folder; have tried copy/pasting the topics back into the output, but they disappear again on generation.

Fixes tried: removing the pages from the TOC and re-adding, recreating the TOC from scratch, generating to both a local file location and networked file location. Haven't tried recreating the topics from scratch, but would like to avoid that if possible.

Any suggestions? Nothing I've found explains what might be happening, why, or how to fix this.

Since I wouldn't expect to see any further updates made to RH2019, your only choice is to live with the .11 build or go to RH2020.

Have you tried testing with another output preset of a different type?

Hi Jeff! I've tested PDF, Responsive HTML, and Microsoft HTML Help output; the topics don't appear in the PDF or responsive HTML outputs, and in the help output the names of the topics appear in the Contents pane but clicking them results in a path error message.

And you've ruled out conditional tags too? Anything strange about the filenames of the topic files? How long a path+filename do they have? Long paths+filenames can cause issues.

The paths & filenames haven't changed from when the project was first created, when the topics were generating correctly in the output. The filenames are only two/three words long, and the paths are similarly short.

As for conditional tags, there are none--

Ah. In the middle of writing this response, I discovered the issue. The project was created in Robohelp version 2019.0.11, and the topics were updated and the output generated in Robohelp version 2019.0.14. Using another computer with version 11, the output generated correctly, including the previously-missing topics and retained the updates that had been made.

No idea why the version discrepancy would cause this issue, though. If anyone is able to chime in with an answer/permanent solution (that isn't "use an older version of Robohelp to generate this particular project"), much appreciated!

There are a couple of posts with this issue and it seems to relate to the server cache. Does the help work OK when generated locally.

Also you say "Error occurred after copying & pasting the .htm file generated in output to separate, local folder; have tried copy/pasting the topics back into the output, but they disappear again on generation". I'm not clear what you mean by that. Are you copying a topic from the local output to a server without updating the whole project.

The help file generated locally unfortunately had the same issues, so I was fairly sure it wasn't a server or network issue.

That being said, I believe the copy of the files made was coincidental to the issue at hand, since generating in the .11 build of RH2019 fixed the problem entirely.
