Multi-File Find and Replace

Hello, and thanks in advance for any help.

My product name was changed, so I used the Multi-File Find and Replace command to update the documentation. I intended to select a sub-folder, but soon realized that I had selected the folder, and RoboHelp was replacing ALL instances of the old name in too many places. No way to escape or cancel.

Anyway, after this Replace, I am now unable to open any of these changed files in Word. The error message says, "Word experienced an error trying to open the file. Try these suggestions...." Then it recommends checking the permissions, disk space and opening with Text Recovery. I have the permissions and the space, and Text Recovery gets me the same error; besides, I'd like to get the formatting back too, not just the text.

Any ideas? Thanks so much.

I guess you don't really need me to tell you now that it is a basic law of multi file find and replace that you always make a backup first. Also note there is a tick box to create backups but I prefer to copy the whole project.

Have you got any backups around and how old are they?

I haven't really used RH for Word for years but the first thing I would try is to open the document on a PC that does not have RH installed. Also trying opening the RTF file. The fact that Word is bring up the Text Recovery option does not fill me with hope here.
