Hello,
I'm using RoboHelp for Word 8.0, output to Micrcosoft HTML Help, Windows XP.
Why is the navigation bar over the right pane not visible to some users of my project?
Thanks,
Carma
Hi, Carma,
It sounds like you may have implemented the browse sequence functionality in the HTML Help viewer. In that case, you need to distribute the HHActiveX.dll control with your Help file and ensure that it is registered on your users' systems. See this article:

Hi Carma.
If only some users are affected it is something on their PC that is the issue. If you can't spot anything in the set-up on these PCs can you post a screen shot so we can see. You can use the camera icon in the toolbar above.
As an aside, have you considered using the RoboHelp HTML application to produce your CHM files? It is an application that is better suited to the purpose.

Hello Colum,
I have been reading here that RoboHelp for Word is not exactly the bright new future of the help world. As background, I have been using RoboHelp since the Blue Sky days, and I have only the one, very large project. It is context-sensitive and has lots of formatting from the early days of being fancy with Word. It seems like I might have a big learning curve moving into RoboHelp HTML, so I've been dragging my feet. Can you point me to articles that will convince me to get moving on this?
Thanks,
Carma

Hi Carma
I'm not Colum, of course, but I moved from RoboHelp for Word to RoboHelp HTML many years ago. The transition wasn't nearly as painful as you are probably imagining. The interface is similar to Word. There are a great many similarities involved. What I struggled with the most was the loss of Non-scrolling regions. I was really addicted to those beasties. Others really miss the ability for a tab stop. But everything else is pretty much the same.

Hi Rick,
Thanks for the reply. I have about one billion tab stops in my project, one reason why I hesitate. Would I convert all those to tables to keep things lined up in orderly fashion? My boss likes things lined up just so.
Any potential worries about the Map IDs moving correctly with a conversion to RH HTML? The context-sensitive feature is critical for us.
On another note: can I tag an answer as "Helpful" for now, and come back and call it "Correct" once I know for sure?

Hi Carma.
Tab stops is not the ideal way to format text but it should convert just fine if you convert to RH HTML. In the longer term tables would be the way forward and RH8 has some lovely new style features that can help you there. Also when I converted to RH HTML (it was a few years ago) my CSH came across just dandy and I didn't have to change a thing.
As far as marking a post as helpful or the answer, I'm not sure if you can go back at a later date and reset the status. To be honest it doesn't matter one jot to me if you mark a post as helpful or otherwise. It does mean our profile gets some points but that's about it. And for those of you reading this in the UK........What do points make?

Colum, thanks very much.
I'll do more reading, putter around and delay some more, but I will eventually unplug life support from my RH for Word project and reincarnate it in RH HMTL, and then wonder why I didn't do it much sooner.

Thank you, Pete. I read the article you referenced, and we're testing now, based on the instructions there regarding the HHActiveX.dll control . I will let you know the result.
