Hello,
we are planning to upgrade our RH 6 installation to RH9 in the near future. We're also usung Robo Source Control 3.
I wondered wether there were any upgrade release notes or known pitfalls concerning that.
At the moment, we're just using RoboHelp to generate Word -> PDF. We have 10 RoboHelp projects, from which the largest has about 1000 topics.
Using RoboHelp 9, we're planning to generate web help as well.
Regards,
Kirstin

Hi Kirstin and welcome to the RH community.
Make sure you keep a backup of your RH6 source before you upgrade as there is no going back. However don't let that scare you. The upgrade should go just dandy. RH9 does have a lot of improvements over RH6 so it would be best to run a check on your projects first. Download the trial and check a few of your projects out. It is hard to say definitively that you won't find any problems without knowing exactly what you have.

General questions get general answers
. Seriously though, it is hard to say whether you'll hit any issues without knowing what is in your projects. There are loads of people (me included) that have upgraded their projects with little or no issue. There are also a handful that do have issues. You should find the Word / PDF generation is much improved. You can create a PDF directly from your project, although it creates a temporary Word file in the background to do so. That said, I'd still suggest you generate the Word file first and then manually create the PDF from it.

Also if you are going to move to a merged WebHelp output, check out Peter Grainge's page on this issue. It is not RoboHelp 9 specific, just a great read full of useful information.
