Pop-ups

RoboHelp HTML 11.0.1.235

I recently converted from RoboHelp 8 to 11, seemingly without a problem. However, I no longer seem to see pop-ups in pop-up format in View Selected Item (eyeglass icon). Instead of a pop-up, I see the topic in full frame. In RoboHelp 8 I could always see the pop-up as an autosizing or custom-sized pop-up (as identified on the image map). The picture below shows how I fill in the image map. Does RoboHelp 11 no longer allow you to see pop-ups in View Selected Item, or am I doing something wrong? I've done a lot of playing with this today and can't seem to get it right.

The compiled topic looks fine - the pop-ups show as pop-ups. I just can't preview it.

Thanks so much for any help.

Yes it no longer works that way. The reasoning is that many users wanted the facility to test the output using conditional build expressions or different browsers without having to create the output. So the preview facility incorporated this functionality. It does mean however that popups also display this way.

I think it would help more if you show us what you see when you click the eyeglass icon. You should see the popup topic in the same way as any other topic because there is really no such thing as a popup topic, they are topics like any other but when called they are configured to appear in a popup window.

I'm also not following how creating an image map has anything to do with the eyeglass icon.

Are you thinking of text popups?

Thank you, Peter - my terminology may not be right. Here are some pictures that may help explain my concern:

When I create an image map:

2 image map.png

and link it to an auto-sizing pop-up (as per the picture in my original email), it looks like this after I compile the information, as expected:

1 image map popup.png

In this example, I clicked on a field called Case ID.

However, before I compile, I preview using the eyeglasses icon (View Selected Item). In the past, using version 8, it would look similar to the compiled pop-up above. However, now it looks like a hyperlink displayed in frame. I click here in the "eyeglasses":

3 eyeglass preview case id.png

and see this:

4 brings me here.png

I'm wondering if this is correct in version 11 (rather than seeing it formatted as a pop-up), or if I'm doing something wrong.

Thanks so much for bearing with me.

Ah - thanks so much! I won't spend any more time trying to figure out what I was doing wrong.
