Popup Within a Popup?

I placed an auto-sizing popup inside an existing auto-sizing popup, and I'm getting this message in the Preview:

I know I've seen this info before somewhere, but the help doesn't address it. Can you put a popup inside a popup?

If I remember correctly the trick is to create the content in the main topic and then paste it into the dropdown at whatever level.
