All,
I need some help. I'm trying to create printed documentation from my current project. I've created a custom TOC with all the pages that I want to be included in the document. When I start generating the output it gets about half way through and then I see the error message about "Warning: The Word Document became corrupt when attempting to append a malformed topic: 'Tools\Systems\FARM\FARM_Call_Center\FARM_Assignment_Information.htm'
Failed to build 'FARM Assignment Information'..." nd every topic after that one is the same. It will produce a document but none of the links within the document will work and no images will be displayed..
I'm using RoboHelp 6 and I'm thinking of upgrading but for right now this what I have to work with. Please help.
Thank You,
Ian

Don't worry about the deactivation, it was more precautionary.
There's a bit of your post that still isn't sitting right. You are talking about uninstalling RH as if it is separate from TCS. Uninstalling TCS uninstalls RH. I am thinking you are seeing RH8.0.1 in Add/Remove and thinking that is uninstalling RH. It is not. It is only uninstalling the patch. Maybe that is why uninstalling did not fix the problem, maybe you only really uninstalled the patch?

Right -- I uninstalled 7.0.3 from Add/Remove programs so that was the patch. Getting ready to install it on my laptop.

Had you gone back to Add / Remove you would have seen 7.0.2 and then 7.0.1.
I think that RH was never properly uninstalled.

Problem solved! I uninstalled Adobe Tech Comm Suite and the RoboHelp patch in Add/Remove programs (my work PC). On my home laptop, I downloaded the free uninstaller Peter mentioned above and uninstalled the remaining RoboHelp files. I had to do a chat session with Adobe Support, though. After I downloaded the install files from my Adobe account and while completing the RoboHelp installation within ATCS, it asked for my serial number, which I provided. Then it said I had too many activations (I only knew of the one I had uninstalled at work). (I had already uninstalled instead of going to Help/Deactivate first in RoboHelp). I told the support tech that I had found that I was allowed to have 2 installations. He said that was correct, so he freed up one of the activations so I could continue the installation on my laptop. He said to chat back when I'm ready to reinstall on my work PC. I tested the print docs and everything's working great. One more thing, I did get a security message while generating the Word doc and I enabled the macro. I also fixed my Word 2003 Security setting (from High to Medium).
Thanks, Peter, for being so patient!

Problem only solved on my personal laptop. I uninstalled Tech Comm Suite, the RoboHelp patches, and used the uninstaller Peter suggested on my work PC. I reinstalled the Tech Comm Suite, then installed RoboHelp only. I tried to print from one of the samples, and some topics from my project, and it failed again. My work PC is much more powerful than my laptop, much faster internet connection, etc. I got 2 dll errors while trying to launch RoboHelp for the first time (attached)

My manager (who's a software developer) and I just tried to re-register the 2 dlls, but it didn't work. So I have put in a request to our IT department to re-image my PC. Then I will try to install ATCS.

That does seem to be the only thing left! Do make sure everything Adobe is deactivated first.

After having my PC reimaged, RoboHelp 7 installed and works fine. I must have inadvertently deleted a shared .dll
at some point. It would be nice to know what caused the reinstallation not to work without having to completely reimage the PC.
Get ready! An upgraded Adobe Community experience is coming in January.
