Problem importing Screen Layouts in RH10

New Here ,
Oct 08, 2013 Oct 08, 2013

When I attempt to import a screen layout in RH10, RoboHelp hangs and I have to close the application using Task Manager.

When I restart RH, the screen layout I imported is in the list of layouts, however it includes only two files and judging from the icons of those files, they are the Search Results Page and the Topic Page.

When I right-click the layout and choose Explore, I see that the folder for the screen layout includes many files (approximately 70).

I can generate the help using the imported screen layout but it doesn't appear as it should.

This seems like a bug but I can't find any info on it anywhere.

Any help is appreciated.

Are you importing a custom layout or a default one?

After importing, what happens if your trash the CPD and reopen the project? Do all files show up then?

Willam

It happens with custom layouts and with layouts that I download from the Adobe site.

I tried your suggestion and it seems there are at least two things going on here...and deleting the CPD file solved one of them.

When I delete the CPD and import a screen layout, RH hangs as before. I kill the application, restart, and now the imported screen layout is available (all files are listed under the screen layout). And I'm able to generate the output successfully.

So, the problem of not being able to import a screen layout appears to be solved.

However, RH continues to hang after performing the import. This issue, while not a show stopper, is new behavior. Last week I was able to import a screen layout without this problem.

Thanks for your suggestion...it got me where I need to be.

I'm open to suggestions about how to solve the hanging RH issue.

Did anything in the environment change, such as placing the project in another directory?

An environmental change did cross my mind because I was on a business trip and away from my desk when this initially occured.

I got back to my office this morning and your question spurred me to test the process again.

Seems to be a non-issue. I can now import screen layouts without any problems.

Again, thanks for your help.

Any idea why RH balks at being away from home? (I had my day-to-day laptop on the road with me.)

Never had trouble with RH on the road, except that projecs that rely on source control need acces to the source control server.

And perhaps you have linked document or output directories mapped on unavailable network drives.
