Publish to Microsoft Word docx: Index formatting problem

Using Robohelp 9 and publishing to Word docx using the styles from the modified "style mapping.dot" word template (index is not modified).

At the end of the published word doc is the index.  The index begins following the last topic (as it should). After the last topic there is the index heading, then there is a section break after the index heading that causes a page break, then on the next page starts the two column index entries. Is there a way I can modify the word template (section break) so there is no page break after the Index heading? I like the change to two columns for index entries, but i don't like the index heading as a widow on the previous page.

I know exactly what you mean, I dislike it too.

For now I can only suggest you look at the styles in Word. I am not able to look into this right now but if you are still stuck at the end of next week, post back and I will take a look then.

Meantime you might like to create a Word document right outside RoboHelp and see how that sets up the title and the field.

I tried an experiment with the template and solved the problem, but i don't know why it solved the problem except to say maybe the "style mapping" template provided by adobe has "issues."

here's what i did:

1. opened the template
2. at the bottom of the template i add a couple lines and created some text and an index marker so i could insert an index.
3. added a couple more lines and selected "insert index" from references tab
4. to setup the index, i changed the "formats" option from "from template" to "formal" and checked "right align" and "Tab leader" (that's the way i like my index format). Inserted the index.
5. closed and saved the template
6. generated my printed document, and suddenly, there is a "odd page" section break before the index heading (as there should be) and there is now no section break after the index heading (good), and two column index entries begins right below the heading (good).

problem solved.

Maybe adobe team could check this out and see if the template needs to be fixed.

I don't think it is so much that the template has issues, it is simply that you don't like the way it has been implemented and I can understand that.

Nice work in finding a solution.

Notwithstanding that I don't think it is a bug, you could submit a feature request that the template be changed as I doubt we are alone in not liking the way it works.
