Hello All,
After I generate, compile and view my project, I see the following image - please see below.
I'm using RoboHelp 8.0.2 and my primary layout is in Microsoft HTML Help.
It did work at one time, so I'm not sure what has changed. I did see one older post on here regarding this issue, but it was referring to unblocking the .chm file, but that has not worked for me. (Plus, this is my program, no one emailed me the project).
1 Correct answer
"I can't have him moving the .CHM file to his desktop."
That's not your problem, Karen. Your developer or release engineer should know how to grab that .chm and "hook it up." There is developer information in the RH help, if need be.
Good luck,
Leon

Hi there
Try running the CHM locally and not from a network location.

Rick, you rock!!! Yes, that definitely did it, (I of course stumbled on the same answer after I posted my question!), but... how do I deliver the whole .xpj project to my developer to "hook it into" the desktop application my company uses? I can't have him moving the .CHM file to his desktop. I have searched this and other forums, as well as using the RoboHelp help system, but to no avail. (We're going to be moving the project to source safe, anyway).
Also, please know that I (somewhat) understand the "happy path" to using RoboHelp, but it's these side items that keep tripping me up. The RoboHelp help system has been sufficient in "training" me, but for these other sticky situations, not so much. I hope it's ok to still keep posting on here with these types of questions!
Thank you!
Karen

Thank you ALL! I spoke to my developer, and he already discovered the issue of not being able to run the .chm file from a network, and is working on fixing it now.
Wow, I feel so relieved that there are people out there to help if I can't find the answer elsewhere. Thank you all again. I'm going to sleep well tonight. Whew.

Okkk, so since we need to have the help topics accessed from our network, and not on the desktop (even though this is a desktop application), we then cannot use "Microsoft HTML Help" (.CHM files).
Therefore, should we use WebHelp or WebHelp Pro instead???? I am searching in these forums for questions similar to this, but cannot locate any information. It's just soooo confusing!
What's Adobe AIR? It says something about converting .CHM files to other formats? It seems that this is a free utility, yes? And with WebHelp Pro, it says we need RoboHelp Server... is that an additional cost?!!? Ahhhh..

Your options are:
WEBHELP Generate it from the same source files to a folder on your hard disk. Then you either publish to a server or hand the generated files to the developers.
WEBHELP PRO Gives you some additional features that you didn't have with CHMs so I would say you don't need them. You need additional server software that is not required for WebHelp.
AIR It's not that you convert it, again you generate it from RH. There are articles about it on my site.
