Have tried to modify a Style using methods explained in Help.?
Example: modified Heading 1 to font 12, bold & Keep with Next - then compiled & clicked on Review Results - Heading 1 is OK - BUT when I return to project to add or edit text the Heading 1 style settings are back to what they were prior to modification.
Is there something I'm missing on how to modify a style? because right now I have to re-modify the style each time I work in the project.

I assume you are using Word 2007?
Go to Word Options and in the Popular section, check Show Developer tab in ribbon. This allows you to get to the Document template.
Automatically update document styles should NOT be checked.
If this is checked, all styles coming from the robohelp.dot update the styles in the doc you open. From what you described, you are modifying the open doc, but those modifications do not get back to the dot file.

Thank you for your help ....info provided works with the generated Printed Documentation. We are using RoboHelp7, Word 2007, Windows XP
But problem still exists in RoboHelp7 - when project is opened & edits are made to the Headings in doc, then compile is done, View Results is selected & changes display - but if doc is re-opened, then edits are gone - this means every time we work on the project the changes to the Headings need to be redone?? This only happens with Headings, changes to other styles are ok.
We made sure Automatically update document styles is NOT checked, but after 'compile' is run it's again checked? is there another way Headings can be modified ??
Again thanks for your assistance.

Modify the robohelp.dot template itself. Use windows explorer, navigate to your hard drive, C:\Documents and Settings\<your id>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates - make a copy of this template and paste it in this location before modifying it as a backup -- then, right-click the robohelp.dot and select open. Make sure you see robohelp.dot in the word title bar. Modify your styles -- suggest you just modify one style at first -- once you determine this works you can repeat the process for the rest of the styles. Save the template. When you open your project, using the developer ribbon, modify the doc template to copy the styles from robohelp.dot into the current doc. Then test again. Note: always make a backup of the robohelp.dot file before modifying it as if what you tried does not work, you can delete the robohelp.dot and rename the copy. Also important to note is that any changes you make to the dot file will affect all projects.
