How can I remove the Header container altogether from either the Frameless or ResponsiveHTML templates? I am not finding an option to disable the header section from templates.

That's going to remove the search, is that your intention?
Perhaps show us a screenshot of what you want to remove.

Hi Peter. I do not want to lose search functionality. I see that in Responsive templates, there is a search in the left nav, so maybe that's the way to go? But I am wondering if that will detriment the project later--I've read that Responsive may go away and that Frameless is the future (not sure where I read that)? But I also need a way to edit the Functionbar to customize it a bit if that is the choice.
I saw this response from a few years ago, but I'm hesitant to add a custom css to copy everytime content is generated among the parent+ child projects. https://community.adobe.com/t5/robohelp-discussions/how-do-you-remove-the-header-from-html5-output/t...
That all being said, my IT tells me if I don't remove it, they'll likely just take it off anyway to put the main content in their own wrapper with logo--I can't help him to understand the complexities, so I want to circumvent any problems.

If I choose to use the Frameless template and remove the header, is there an option to add search to the left nav / sidebar ot the toolbar (below the header)?

What is posted is that Frameless is where future development will be focussed. I haven't seen any reference to Responsive going away and if there is one, there are no plans I know of.

Read it closely, it is not for the version you are using.

I love it when the developers want to mess with the help. I suggest you offer to mess with their code. 🙂
I will have a look over the next few days to see if I can find a solution but I'm 99% certain I looked at something like this and found it caused more problems than it solved.

Thanks, Peter. Just working to have my ducks in some kind of row with options (or lack thereof) for them--this is not the direction I was looking to go until confronted with it this morning. It would be nice if there were a template option to turn that portion off. I'm hoping they will agree to hide their wrapper instead. Please do let me know if you find a solution you can recommend.

So if I use a Responsive HTML5 template, I can strip away / hide all the items, but I am left with a big blank div row. What is the style sheet and style that manages that header? If I can access that, I can either hide it or minimize the height and get a potentially satisfactory result. If I have to copy that stylesheet each time we publish, that might be acceptable.

If you are going to go with Responsive, I wish you the best of luck. Let me explain. In Frameless there are many more customisations in the UI. You can turn off the header displaying very easily. You simply set the display to None.
At this point you are probably thinking that if the same is done in Responsive, that is what you want, ignoring search. Here's the reality. Note how the topic heading has been clipped. Also the search is missing.
The search button can be moved down to below the icons you see but it will still be hidden with display set to None.
Further options will let you move the search bar down but then it will sit on top of the topic and look a mess. You then have to think about moving the topic and everything else down to look OK when search is used. All that can be done but what about when search is not used. There will be a lot of blank space. By now you should be getting the picture of the issues with frameless that has a UI. Now try and think about Responsive that does not have those customisations built in. I would rather not. 🙂
What is the issue your developers have with the header? Hiding the logo is easy in frameless. Hiding the space without creating a nightmare of other issues is not.
