I'm trying to get a Word output, but am not very successful yet.
Using a Word template. Mapping all the CSS styles to their Word counterparts. I can select the styles just fine. Almost all styles are mapped.
However, when I generate the Word file, it has the header and footer of the Word template, but all the body text is Normal only with direct formatting applied. Except the headings, these do have the Heading 1/2/3 style.
The Masterpage uses the RH CSS with all styles in it.
Is there a setting that makes Word choose to use all RH CSS styles directly instead of the selected Word styles?

Let's take the scenario where you are not using a master page or a Word template to help with the explanation. The topic CSS will be applied, obviously.
When you use a master page, the CSS in that trumps the topic CSS so first thing to look at is that both topics and master page have the same CSS applied.
You are also using a Word template and here I would need to set up a test to check what trumps what. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to do that right now. What I would set up is a simple project with one topic and just a few styles where everything is set to say blue, then create a master page linked to a CSS with everything set to say red, finally create the same styles in a Word template and set them to say green. Then generate and see what wins out.
Whether or not that is what is causing the styles to get written inline, I'm not at all sure but it's where I would start.
Can you share the project? If you can, then see the Contact page on my site and send the project as instructed there. Do make sure you include a link to this thread and please do not email the project direct. Alternatively set up the same problem in a test project with just one or two topics.

I have since found more issues with the Word output than just this one. I have summarized them in this thread.
