Hi,

We have a product that has almost all its documentation on Wordpress. We want to import all of that to RH.

Definitely don't want to copy-paste. Exporting Word press content to Word and importing it is a way, I would think.

Other than that any suggestion? Considering that importing Word does mess the styles etc. and cleaning that later is a nightmare. Any suggestions?

The process is described here. RH2020 Importing/Linking Word/Fm Docs (grainge.org)

  • Provided you match the doc styles to CSS styles the import of paragraphs should be smooth.
  • Lists can be a problem as Word lists are technically autonumbered paragraphs, which are not the same thing as an HTML list. When importing you can set lists to be created as autonumbered styles in RoboHelp but there's an accessibility issue. Screen readers will read out numbers in a list but not in an autonumbered paragraph.
  • Tables can be mapped but it may depend on their complexity.

You have asked for suggestions and then ruled one out. 🙂
