Is this "OK I no longer have an issue" or "OK the correct language is set but I still have misspelled words." If the later, check your Tools > Spelling Options to see what dictionaries are being used. Would you have reinstalled RH lately? If so, your personal dictionary may have been overwritten.

OK the correct language is set but I still have misspelled words. -)

Can't see there any dictionaries. Which tab?
>> Would you have reinstalled RH lately?
No
>> If so, your personal dictionary may have been overwritten.
Anyway all these words are common words
e.g., In the following sentence the words enclosed in * are marked as
spelling mistakes.
"This tutorial shows how to program filters to selectively hide "

Are you using RH HTML or RH for Word? If the former, the dictionaries are listed in the "Dictionaries" tab of the dialog I mentioned. It sounds like you may be in RH for Word though.

RH HTML v7.02 and in 'Tools > Spelling Options' there's no Dict. tab.
Was there supposed to be? So where's it gone...?

Can you post us a picture of your dialog? Not sure if this has changed in later versions - perhaps someone with RH7 can confirm - but you should have three tabs in the spelling options for options, dictionaries and ignored words.

Hey there Colum
I think RoboHelp 7 took this capability away.

Cheers Rick. So it looks like the user dictionaries are controlled by the Modify button. Look in there to see what gives.

Sorry Colum
I suppose I didn't go far enough in my last post. I meant to show that there is no obvious way to change the dictionaries now. When you click that button you simply see a dialog that allows you to edit the personal dictionary.
Unfortunately it would seem the location of the dictionary files isn't documented anywhere. Certainly with the new multiple languages that RoboHelp is capable of dealing with, they probably have several different dictionaries in use.

Well, I hope the RH at my client still works better.

Hey guys, a little late to the party here, but I came across this because I suddenly had the problem this week with valid words being shown as misspelled (yes, my project language is set to US English).
The only thing I could think of that had changed was that I had allowed Adobe Updater to install the 7.03 patch. I had never installed it because the changes listed in the readme didn't affect me.
So I uninstalled RoboHelp 7.03 through Add and Remove Programs, then 7.02 just to be sure. Then I reinstalled 7.02 in the hopes that the previous dictionary would be restored. Nothing changed, so I figured I'd have to live with it.
However, after shutting my computer down for the night and then coming back today, I don't have the problem anymore. So this seemed to confirm my guess that the 7.03 patch is somehow breaking the dictionary. So avi, maybe you installed 7.0.3 without realizing it. Go to Help > About in RH to check your version. If it shows 7.03, try what I described above (including restarting your computer) and see if that fixes it.
Hope this helps,
Ben

You could be right Ben but I also hit the problem with RoboHelp 8 when some very basic words were shown as misspelled. I was given to understand the dictionary is a common component with other Adobe programs and without any patch to RoboHelp 8, the problem seems to have gone away. That makes me think it was some other Adobe update that fixed it for me.

Hey Ben
I thought you adopted the flag of a different ship these days? What happened? Did the Flare fizzle?
Cheers... Rick

Well, it's like this: The ship hasn't officially left port yet for me.
I'm still working on all of my existing projects in RH7, and I'll use Flare for any new projects going forward. I picked a project to convert to Flare that would have no impact on the project as far as the help link goes, but Flare has diverged from RH enough that it would have been like learning new rules to the sport while still running with the ball. So I backed off. Since I haven't had any new projects start up yet, I haven't gotten into the throes of using Flare.

The elves must be still having a party. The problem came back for me, so I've put in a bug report. I have CS4 Design Premium on my machine, and neither InDesign nor Dreamweaver flags words like "click," "button," and "update" as misspelled like RH does.
