RH8 Crashes when deleting a topic

New Here ,

I'm cleaning up an old help project, and there are some topics that need to go because the relevant sections of the program have been removed.

I'm running RH 8.02.208.

1.  Right click on topic, select Delete.  Tell the program to remove all references to the topic.  RH crashes.

2.   Right click on topic, select Delete.  Tell the program NOT to remove all references to the topic.  RH still crashes.

This is ridiculous.  There isn't anything much more basic than deleting a topic.

Does anyone know how to make this work?

I deleted the topic from Windows.  When RH opened the file, it scanned the folder and removed the topic.  I removed the ToC entry and removed references to the file in other files.  Then I tried to generate a new CHM.  RH crashed.

This is ridiculous.  There isn't anything much more basic than deleting a topic.

Does anyone know how to make this work?

You don't say whether your project is on your local drive (correct) or on a network (wrong). If the latter, try moving it first.

Have you tried renaming the CPD file and then reopening RH? On opening, a new file will be created and that often fixes issues such as this. Because you have been removing files via Windows Explorer, there may be some tidying up to do.
