Hello,
I tried to open the XPJ file that was created using RH9 on my computer that has RH10. A dialog appears asking to either upgrade the file or cancel. Clicking Upgrade leads to a message that says "Open project was cancelled or the application was unable to load the database for [file location].cpd"
Also, I am new, this is my first time usinhg Robohelp...

Before you do anything else, make sure you have a copy of the project still in Rh9 format as a backup.
Do you still have Rh9 on your PC?
Was Rh10 installed with admin rights?

My coworker was Rh9, not me. I am not sure about the admin rights for Rh10...

Is your co-worker still with the company? I am trying to find out if the project will still open in Rh9.
You will need to speak to IT about the admin rights. That is the first thing we need to identify as a possible cause. Try opening one the sample projects. Click Open on the RoboHelp Starter page and then click Samples in the ribbon on the left.

My coworker can still open the RoboHelp files, I tried to open two different XPJ files with the same result.
I am able to open the sample files.

The fact that you can open the samples establishes that the Rh installation is OK.
Where are the projects when you try to open them?
You do realise that if you successfully open the projects, the uprade will stop your co-worker opening them?

I have a copy of the RoboHelp file so that I can begin to learn how to use RoboHelp and base the style of my document on my coworker's style.

But where are the projects you are using.

Ah, after re-copying the files from a network location to my computer, they upgrade and open in Rh10! I guess the projects must be stored locally?

Rh10 introduced the ability to have the projects on a network drive but I suspect that only works after the upgrade.
Close Rh and move the whole project back to the network. I think you will find it opens OK. It will be slower so local is best.
Please let us know if it still opens in Rh10 from the network as it will be useful to know that upgrades must still be local.

I moved the upgraded file back to the network and now I can open it in Rh10 from the network.
Thanks for your help
