RH9 PDF Review - Send For Shared Review is greyed out (reader X)

Howdy.

I am starting to figure out the PDF stuff. When I select Review > Create PDF for Review, the "Send PDF for Shared Review" option is not available/greyed out.

Windows XP, RoboHelp9, Acrobat Reader X

You need Acrobat Pro, not the Reader to create shared review PDFs

Looks like this is the correct answer, but take a look at this video tutorial on the subject. It clearly states that the free reader can be used to create the review pdf.

No, Tom says that you can send the PDF to anyone for their Commenting using the free Reader; not in the creation of the PDF - for that you need the non-free version of Distiller (Acrobat Pro X these days). Otherwise, how would you create the PDF, right?

Hi Lyle,

         There are basically three options for creation of Review PDF

1. Save Locally

2. Send as email attachment

3. Send for shared Review.

this third option "Send for shared Review" is a functionality of Acrobat X Pro only so if Acrobat X pro is not installed this cannot work and thus is grayed out,

but you can always use the other two options and mail that pdf for commenting (and the commenting can be done by just using reader)

Hummmm. I tried the send by email and it creates a pdf, emails it,

etc. but there does not seem to be any edit tools on the tool bar area

like in the video? (remove word, insert text, etc.??)

What software are you using to look at the resulting PDF? If you're doing it on the machine that created the PDF, you should only have Acrobat Pro X running, not the Reader. Dov Isaacs always recommends having only one Acrobat flavour installed (distiller only/reader only - not both).
