RH9 PowerPoint Slideshows - is this a Microsoft or Adobe question?

I've already posted this to the Microsoft forum, but it occurred to me that there might be something in Robohelp that I haven't tried.

PowerPoint .ppsx files are supposed to launch as read-only slideshows. However, the link in the published Robohelp project launches PowerPoint (I don't know what happens for people who don't have PowerPoint) and the file is a standard, editable PowerPoint presentation, instead of a slideshow. I don't know how to fix this - I'm almost to the point of saving the presentations as PDF files.

Does anyone know what I should do?

Thanks!

Just for clarification, I'm linking to baggage files.

Hi there

I might think this would fall more into the Microsoft area than RoboHelp. Basically, when you link to a Baggage file, you expect the browser or operating system to determine what happens with the file.

Are you linking from WebHelp, FlashHelp, AIR Help, Microsoft HTML Help, PDF, something else?

You might find that it would be simpler to convert the slide show to a video or Flash format and link to that instead.

Cheers... Rick

Thanks Rick. I'm generating Webhelp. I tried FlashHelp, and it still launched the file as an editable presentation instead of a slideshow. I guess I'll wait to see if anyone on the Microsoft forum has any thoughts.

Thanks!

Hi,

I think what you're looking for is Save as > PowerPoint show (translated that from my Dutch version so it may be named differently. It's a .ppsx file.

This saves the PPT as a view only slide show.

Greet,

Willam

Hello again

To be honest, I'd have been very surprised if you noticed a difference in behavior between WebHelp or FlashHelp. Or even Web based AIR Help. All of those should behave identically, as they are launching things from the browser.

Cheers... Rick
