RoboEngine/RoboHelp 7 compatibility

We currently use RoboHelp 6 with an older server version that came with RoboHelp Office Pro. I would like to upgrade to RoboHelp 7 since it actually contains new features. Does anyone know if RoboHelp 7 is compatible with an older server version? I can't find anything on Adobe's site that addresses this issue.

Absolutely it is. There is no requirement to upgrade to RH Server 7.

Hi Colum,
Are absolutely 100% positively sure about this? I was informed on the prerelease site that any project developed with RH7 could could not be published to any previous version of RH Server.
Since we had a myriad of pbs when trying to upgrade to any subsequent versions of RoboEngine, we are stuck with that version and hence did not upgrade to RH7.
Thanks!
Chris

100%? No! We have RH Server 6 and RHX5 so I haven't used RH Server 7. My reason for giving the answer was that I hadn't seen or heard of anyone saying you couldn't, the fact that you could publish projects created in previous versions of RH with past RH Server versions and the fact that there was nothing that I could see that has changed in RH Server that would affect this. Did you source come from Adobe or one of the beta participants? I'll try and get a definitive answer out of Adobe in the meantime.

I have been in touch with the Robohelp Product Manager at Adobe and the lay of the land is this...

If you created your project using RH7 you must use RH7 Server to publish your output. This is because of the unicode support provided in RH7. However if your project was created in RHX5 or RH6 you can publish using RH7 Server.

Hi Column,
Thanks for looking into the matter and confirming this info. That was exactly what I had been told as well.
Chris.

My thanks also. I guess there is no point upgrading to RoboHelp 7 until we are ready to upgrade to RH Server 7.
