I am opening Robohelp 6 projects in RoboHelp 8 for Word, to create Winhelp. I am using Word 2002 running on XP, SP3. The compile Window comes up as usual and the compile process begins as usual. However, the compile just continues on indefinitely. These projects normally take 10-20 seconds to compile in Robo6. Eventually I have to use the Windows Task Manager to close RoboHelp because the Cancel button does not stop the compile or close the Compile window and I can't select anything else in RoboHelp. There are no error messages displayed so I have no clues as to what might be causing this. Has anyone seen this problem before and if so how did you resolve it? Any help or suggestions appreciated, thanks.

First of all, is it just this one project that has a problem compiling? Can you compile one of the tutorial projects? If so I think this may require a bit of dectective work to see what is causing the issue. Take a copy of your project. Now delete half the topics and see if it compiles. If it does, add some more content and compile again. If it doesn't compile, compile the other half. As a result of these actions (and by repeating) you'll be able to narrow down what the issue is.
Read the RoboColum(n) for mutterings on RoboHelp, Technical Communication Suite and technical communication.

Thanks for your response. Yes, I can compile the tutorial projects and I can also create a new project in RoboHelp 8 and compile successfully. I have tested 5 projects so far out of about fifty projects and this problem affects all five. All projects were compiling successfully in RoboHelp 6. I will try your suggestions to see if I can pinpoint the issue, thanks.
