RoboHelp 7 - Batch Generation

New Here ,
Jun 04, 2009 Jun 04, 2009

I'm testing MS Word 2007 with RoboHelp for Word and when I compile I get a Batch Generation succesful message (see attachment) but nothing is actually being updated. In other words, my chm file is still the old version I compiled.

Also, when I import a docx file into my project, in the projects tab under topics, I see a little yellow icon to identify the recently imported word file not the standar word file icon. If I save the word 2007 file as Word 97 - 2003, I see the normal word Icon.

The other files in my project are older word files. These files have Compatability Mode next to the file name.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

No attachment that I can see. Using the camera icon is better as that puts the image in the post for immediate viewing.

Have you tried moving the original file to see if a new one is created? Are you 100% sure it is being generated to the location you think it is?

When you import a document, RH creates topics so you should not see any Word icon. Can you please post an image of that too?

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the response.

I've attached screen shots.

One screen shot shows the batch generation successful message and the other shows the docx file icon.

And I did verify that the compilation target folder is the one I checked.

I am not sure about the icon but the fact that it has no topics says something has gone wrong. Sorry I don't use RH for Word so not sure on that one.

Have you tried changing the generation target to see if that makes it work?

The import is still going on. Once the import is complete the topics are their. But that icon always remains. The other icons are .doc files.

The generation target, meaning the output folder where the files is generated? I have chnages the output folder, with the same result.

Thanks.

Can I convert the RoboHelp word project to an HTML project. From what I've been reading, RoboHelp for Word is seldom used these days. Maybe I should try converting.

Thanks.

I would offer to take a look at the project but I will be away for a short while.

When you open RH HTML there is an option to create a project from an existing RH for Word project.

Thanks Peter. I'll try the HTML option. In the meantime I'll keep plugging away with RoboHelp Word. Also, I appreciate your offer.
