Robohelp needs Help

Guest

Up until using this product I was consistently impressed by Adobe, particularly with the help documentation they provided complete guides to the point of utter confusion...but Robohelp for Word seems to have been turned over to a kindergarten class for polishing.

Help is poorly organized, topics are hard to find and in one particularly painful case totally missing: Under SSL- Printed Documentation- all the topics when clicked will say is "The topic does not exist. Contact your application vendor for an updated Help file. (129)".

Needless to say that in the future I will recommend other software options for help systems- this is inexcusable.

I accept the help should work without issue but to go to another product on the basis of one problem seems extreme. You might find the help for another system works but the product doesn't.

Can you give me precise instructions to find this broken page? I just tried all the pages I could using the information given and nothing seems broken. I am using RH6.

If you are dissatisfied, you really need to tell Adobe rather than report it here where they will not see your comments.

Thanks for that Info Peter- I will be contacting them as this is pretty inexcusable.

To get to the problem open Robohelp FOR WORD, not HTML. - click Help - click "Working with SSL" - "Default Layouts" - (sidebar question here- why is there no mention of "Printed Documentation" in the index?) - "Printed Documentation" - "Word 2000 or Later" - "any topic" - error message.

Looks like it was OK in X5 but broken in RH6. I'll check RH7 later.

Thanks for the confirmation Peter.

Do you have any suggestions on escalating this through Adobe? We have a volume license so I can't go through the web 'open a case' screen.

The help is fixed in RH7. Given that it worked in X5 and the upgrade from RH6 to RH7 is very low cost, my gut feel is that the RH6 error will not be fixed so contacting Adobe would be a waste of time. That however is your call.
