RoboSource issues

New Here ,
Oct 21, 2010 Oct 21, 2010

We updated to RoboHelp 8 earlier this year. We have a few issues going on.

Background:

  • RoboHelp version 8.0.2.208
  • RoboSource version 3.2.0.0
  • Windows 7
  • RoboHelp previous version 7

1. I have not been able to upgrade projects that were in RoboHelp 7. I get the prompt to do so. I go through the process nut the next time I go in wants to upgrade again.

2. I get the following error: An error occurred while trying to save data to <C: then the file location. I get approximatley 20 of these errors everytime I open, close, save, publish.

I deceided to create a new project in RoboHelp 8 and enter all of the information again from the version in RoboHelp 7. It was working great until 2 days ago. I started getting the errors again but not as many. The difference is that another writer who has had another whole set of issues that we think were corrected went into the project to see if he could open it from RoboSource. That is is when I started getting the errors again.

3. I am trying to create a folder in the Project Manager. I get an error when I do this however when I go into RoboSource the folder is showing there. I have a group of files I created yesterday that are appearing in RoboSource and on my C drive but I am not able to pick them up in RoboHelp.

Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

Just some thoughts regarding issue #2

- Is the path reported in error message existing?

- Does the user have the proper permissions on that files and related directories?

- Can you reproduce this issue on another machine / operating system?

Regarding issue #3

When we were using RSC (before moving to another version control system) these kind of issue occurred all the time. Can't say if it was due to RSC or to a bad setup.

However you can fix your issue manually editing the .fpj file in each directory (with RoboHelp not running).
